The cleanup of the spilled grain and 40-50 gallons of diesel fuel from the 1:48 am traffic accident this morning on Interstate 80 has been removed and both lanes of the freeway are now open.
The driver of the 18 wheeled commercial motor vehicle, 51 year old Dennis J. West of Paul, Idaho, was not injured in the rollover accident after he told troopers he swerved to avoid hitting a deer near the Nevada-California state line.
The early morning accident blocked both west bound travel lanes until about 6:00 am when one lane was cleared.
NDOT personnel, a hazardous materials recovery crew, and heavy duty tow trucks were also dispatched to the scene.
West bound travelers had to be turned around at the area interchanges while crews worked diligently to clear the truck, trailer and debris.
The accident is still under investigation and no enforcement action has been taken.
The second lane was cleared and both lanes were completely opened at 10:50 am.
