Plum Organics is recalling some of its baby food because of a manufacturing defect that may cause some packages to swell and the product to spoil.

The recall is for pouch products in the Baby Stage 2, Tots Mish Mash and Kids lines. The recalled baby foods have "Best by" dates ranging from August 5 to December 8 of 2014. The company is telling parents not to feed any of these products to their children.

Plum Organics is sold in Reno at Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Walgreens, Target, Whole Foods, Safeway and Smiths.

Consumers who have purchased affected products should contact the Plum Organics Consumer Hotline at (866) 495-3774 or send an email to info@plumorganics.com with the subject line "Replacement Voucher" to request a product replacement voucher. In the email, you must also include your first and last name, full address, phone number, Best By date, and the number of affected pouches.

In a statement, company president and co-founder Neil Grimmer said, "As a father of two, I know how it feels to want nothing but the very best for our kids and yours. Over the years, Plum has worked hard to earn the trust of parents, and we fully intend on maintaining that trust. We are taking every action to ensure that our highest standards are being met."
