REDLANDS, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California woman suspected of stabbing an officer in the leg as he tried to take her into custody has been charged with attempted murder.

Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker said Saturday that 34-year-old Susan Hollon was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.

The officer was responding to a call about a suicidal woman when he got into a struggle with Hollon, who Baker said became combative as officers tried to take her into custody.

Baker said she used a pocket knife to stab the officer in the leg. He was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment and was released.
