RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) - Richmond fire officials say two people were killed and one critically injured in a fire at a garage that had been converted into living space.
Firefighters were called to the home early Thursday morning. They arrived to find the garage in the back of the residence fully engulfed in flames.
Battalion Chief Manly Moulton says the fire was put out in ten minutes. The victims - identified as 56-year-old Mearn Lee Pom and 50-year-old Bounkeo Viengvilai - were found inside the garage.
The couple's 26-year-old son was found on fire running through the yard and suffered critical burn injuries.
The cause of fire is not known, but investigators say cigarette butts, alcohol and fireworks were found outside.
