BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Texas man who died after he was struck by the propeller of a crop duster plane in Northern California.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office says Willie Valdez Suarez of Houston, Texas was killed after he was hit by the propeller of a small plane on Thursday.
Undersheriff Kory Honea says the 66-year-old Suarez was part of a crew repaving a private airstrip in Biggs, Calif. The fixed wing, single engine turbo plane belonging to Williams AG Service had just landed when Suarez was struck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Honea says the pilot may not have seen Suarez when landing the plane and that Suarez had hearing problems and may not have heard the plane approaching.
