Teen Arrested for Twitter Threats to Kill Teacher

MURRIETA, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested a Riverside County teen who they say threatened to kill one of his teachers on Twitter.

Murrieta police Sgt. Robert Anderson said in a statement Wednesday that the 17-year-old Vista Murrieta High School student was arrested at his home after school Monday.

Anderson says police acted after a school official confirmed that the threat felt credible. No weapons were found at the teen's home.

Officials say there is a zero tolerance policy for threats made against any school employee or the school.

The teen was booked into juvenile hall for criminal threats. The case has been submitted to the Riverside County district attorney to determine whether charges can be filed.

The boy's name was not released because he is a minor.
