ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (AP) - A judge has dismissed a lawsuit by opponents of a Native American casino under construction in Northern California.
The Press Democrat of Santa Rosa reported on Wednesday that a Sonoma County judge ruled the suit by the group, Stop the Casino 101 Coalition, lacked merit.
The group sued the city of Rohnert Park in November over an agreement to widen a road for the casino being built by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria outside the city.
It said the project was not exempt from state requirements for an environmental study, and the widening work would endanger the threatened California tiger salamander.
Chip Worthington, a Stop the Casino 101 representative, declined to comment to the Press Democrat. A call on Thursday to a number listed for the group went into a voicemail box that was full.
