SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) - A Bay Area company plans to test the maneuverability of a high tech submersible at Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports staff from Hawkes Ocean Technologies is set to perform hydrobatic testing of its DeepFlight Super Falcon at Lake Tahoe in October.

An engineer with the company describes hydrobatics as aerobatics under water.

The company says the 22-foot, two-person submersible has a maximum speed of about 7 mph and is capable of maneuvers that would be impossible with other under water craft.

But exactly what maneuvers the submersible can accomplish is part of the reason the company is coming to Lake Tahoe for performance testing.

The submersible has logged more than 200 dives.
