LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a scuba diving student has died during a class off the Orange County coast.
The Orange County Register says 51-year-old Mark Gibbs of Tustin died Friday.
Authorities say Gibbs was with a class in Laguna Beach when he ran into trouble.
Police and lifeguards began searching the waters after receiving reports of someone yelling for help.
Gibbs failed to leave the water with the rest of the class. He was found in the water about an hour later. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The cause of his death is under investigation.
