STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Stockton police say a person opened fire at officers during a high speed-chase that ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed on a highway onramp, killing one of its occupants.
The incident began around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday when police spotted a stolen vehicle. Police spokesman Joe Silva says the occupants of that vehicle fled from police after getting into another car.
Silva tells the Record of Stockton that someone in the car fired multiple shots at police during the ensuing pursuit.
The car eventually crashed, killing a woman inside. Two others were pulled from the wreckage. Their conditions were not known. None of the three people has been identified.
Silva says police found a firearm in the vehicle.
