LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jurors in the public corruption trial of six former officials in the suburban city of Bell have gone home for the weekend without reaching a verdict.

They will resume deliberations Monday.

Bell's former mayor and five former City Council members are charged with inflating their salaries to nearly $100,000 a year.

Prosecutors say the officials paid themselves to serve on boards and commissions that did no work.

The former council members maintain they worked long hours and earned the salaries.

The jury of seven women and five men has now deliberated a full week since one member was replaced for misconduct.

After that juror's dismissal, the new panel had to start deliberations over from the beginning.

Before adjourning Friday, jurors asked the judge to clarify some of her instructions.
