TEMECULA, Calif. (AP) - The city of Temecula in Southern California is in an enviable position in these financially difficult times.
The finance director for the southwestern Riverside County community of 100,000 says Temecula finished the fiscal year on June 30 with a $2.76 million budget surplus.
Savings to keep spending at the budgeted $53 million as well as $1 million in higher than expected revenues from property taxes, building and safety and investments boosted revenues to $55.8 million.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise (bit.ly/QyVgxE) says the City Council was told about the surplus on Tuesday.
