Fire crews responded to a blaze at the garage early that morning and found Viengvilai on fire and running through the yard.
His parents, 56-year-old Mearn Lee Pon and 50-year-old Bounkeo Viengvilai, were found dead inside the garage, which had been converted into living space.
The cause of the fire is not known, but investigators said cigarette butts, alcohol and fireworks were found outside the garage.
The garage did not have smoke detectors.
