SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A San Bernardino family says five of their prized bulldogs have been stolen, just months after two French bulldogs were taken from their home.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise ( ) reports one of the stolen dogs was ranked sixth nationally on the show circuit, but Fernando Juarez says the real loss is that the four-legged friends are family members.

Four French bulldogs and an English bulldog were stolen from the Juarez' backyard on Wednesday.

Sheriff's detective Kenneth Owens says if caught, the dog thief could be charged with grand theft because the value of the animals exceeds $950.

But Juarez says he just wants the dogs back. He says his 5-year-old daughter likes to paint the dogs' toenails, and his 4-year-old son likes to ride the stocky pups like ponies.
