UPDATE: Comments on social media sites report someone roughly matching Greene's description has been seen in the Minden, Nevada area, but that has not been confirmed, and search crews are still looking.

MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in California are searching for a hiker from Pennsylvania who has been missing for more than a week in the Mammoth Lakes area just outside of Yosemite National Park.

Mono County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jennifer Hansen said search and rescue crews have searched around Mount Ritter and Banner Peak in the eastern Sierra for 39-year-old Matthew Greene. Greene was reported missing on July 29 after he did not meet up with friends as planned.

Family members told officials Greene, of Bethlehem, Pa., is an avid sportsman and was passing through the Mammoth Lakes area to do some hiking and camping and climb peaks.
