Santa Cruz Family OK After Bungled Robbery Attempt

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) - Police say the four members of a Santa Cruz family are OK after two men - one armed with a decorative sword and the second with a screwdriver - tried to rob the family in their home

Santa Cruz police say the trouble started around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday when a couple awoke to find two men standing in their bedroom.

Yarry Gonzalez told the Santa Cruz Sentinel (http://bit.ly/WT9Ul7 ) the two men appeared to be drunk and were "completely incompetent."

Gonzalez says when his wife threw a heating pad at one of the would-be robbers he grabbed the sword away from the second man.

The two men ran from the house, but Gonzalez tackled one of them in the front yard.

When officers arrived they arrested the suspect - identified as 28-year-old Cuactemoc Xilonzochilt-Zamora. He was being held on suspicion of robbery and other charges.

Police are looking for the second suspect.
