Santa Barbara Shark Warning

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Warning signs have been posted after a 15-foot great white shark was spotted at the Santa Barbara Harbor entrance.

A fisherman saw the shark Monday afternoon in the area between Stearns Wharf and the breakwater where several people on kayaks and paddleboards were in the water.

The sighting was confirmed as credible by Waterfront Department officials.

The Santa Barbara News-Press (bit.ly/U8lOWh) says the city immediately posted signs at 14 locations near city beaches and on five lifeguard towers warning beachgoers to swim at their own risk and avoid marine wildlife.
