SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A San Jose school teacher accused of blindfolding children and making them perform oral sex in his classroom has been convicted of molesting five students.
The San Jose Mercury News reports 36-year-old Craig Chandler was found guilty Thursday of child molestation with multiple-victims enhancements. Chandler taught second grade students at O.B. Whaley Elementary School.
During trial, the defense said Chandler only blindfolded students as part of a classroom exercise on compassion for blind people like Helen Keller.
Chandler is scheduled to be sentenced in September. He faces 75 years to life in prison.
The school's principal was convicted of a misdemeanor for failing to report suspected sexual abuse of a child by Chandler in November.
