SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police say officers have shot and wounded man after they say he pointed a gun at them during a foot chase.

A police spokesman says officers were on Dakota Street around 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a car being towed when they received a report of a man with a gun.

When officers chased the suspect, they say he turned toward one of the officers with a gun in his hand, prompting police to open fire.

The suspect, who has not been named, was hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds.
