JULIAN, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters are making progress against a 1,500-acre wildfire burning in a remote area of eastern San Diego County.
Authorities say the blaze east of the mountain town of Julian is 60 percent contained Friday.
No homes are threatened.
More than 600 firefighters, aided by air tankers, helicopters, dozens of engines and water tenders are battling the blaze. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The fire began Thursday afternoon. The cause remains under investigation.
