EL CAJON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a four-month-old infant died after being left inside a car at a San Diego County apartment complex.

U-T San Diego reports a resident at the Belle Vista Apartments in El Cajon called 911 Saturday afternoon to report a baby in distress.

Police Lt. Eric Taylor said officers got the boy out of his parents' gray Chevrolet Impala sedan and started CPR until paramedics got there. The child died at a hospital.

The death is under investigation.

Taylor says the child's parents, who are in their 20s, are being interviewed by detectives. Their other children are being taken care of by family members.

Taylor says it's unclear how long the child was in the car, and whether the death was heat-related. He says it was a warm day in El Cajon.
