RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A Riverside police officer who was ambushed by rogue ex-cop Christopher Dorner has made his first public appearance since being badly wounded.

Officer Andrew Tachias was one of the guests of honor Friday night at Riverside's Original Roadhouse Grill.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports that the officer shared a table with the wife of his late partner, Michael Crain.

The event was a fundraiser for the two officers' families.

Tachias and Crain were sitting in their patrol car at a stoplight on Feb. 7 when Dorner pulled alongside and opened fire.

Crain was killed. Tachias suffered eight bullet wounds.

Dorner went on a killing rampage after he was fired by the Los Angeles Police Department.

He committed suicide Feb. 12 after he was cornered in a mountain cabin.
