Riverside County Wildfire is 80 Percent Contained

BANNING, Calif. (AP) - Crews are hoping to surround a Southern California wildfire that injured four firefighters.

State fire officials say the 280-acre blaze in rural Riverside County is 80 percent contained Monday.

Fire crews are facing hot, windy afternoon conditions. The high temperature could hit 108 and winds could gust to 25 mph.

The fire erupted Saturday in steep terrain about five miles south of Banning. It burned a shed and several vehicles that apparently were abandoned.

Authorities said shooters at an old target range may have started the blaze.
