LOS ANGELES (AP) - Cool, rainy weather throughout Central and Southern California has made for slippery roads but it's good news for crews fighting a huge wildfire.

A storm dumped less than a tenth of an inch of rain to around a quarter-inch of rain overnight in most areas.

Cooler weather helped firefighters battling a 44-square-mile wildfire which, at its peak, threatened thousands of homes in Ventura County. The blaze was 75 percent contained Sunday and it's expected to be fully surrounded late Monday.

The National Weather Service says an offshore low-pressure system will continue to bring cool, cloudy weather with a chance of showers through Tuesday. Coastal areas will likely see about a quarter-inch of rain, foothills could get a half-inch or more and a few spots could get an inch.
