SAN DIEGO (AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old student from Portugal had just finished playing a round of golf before he was killed in a car crash.
U-T San Diego reports (http://bit.ly/11kvpzY ) Joao Rocadas was driving a convertible Thursday evening when his car veered over the center median, into oncoming traffic.
Sheriff's Sgt. Anthony O'Boyle says the car hit two trucks and Rocadas died at the scene.
One of the other drivers was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and three others were treated scene.
Rocadas was one of 12 international students in the 230-student program at the Golf Academy of America in Carlsbad. The program's 16-month course teaches about careers in the golf industry.
Campus Director Richard Iorio says Rocadas was well-liked though he'd only been at the school a short time.
