RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Riverside police officer they believe was wounded by Christopher Dorner in an ambush that killed his partner.

Twenty-seven-year-old Andrew Tachias was shot in the arms and shoulders and remains hospitalized in stable condition. His name was withheld until it was confirmed that Dorner had died in a Tuesday confrontation.

Police say Dorner ambushed Tachias and Michael Crain in their patrol car on Feb. 7, killing Crain, whose death was the third of four blamed on Dorner.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says Tachias, who joined Riverside on Dec. 21, saw another partner shot in September while on the Inglewood force.

Police there say someone fired at Tachias and Benjamin Sanza from a car they stopped. Sanza was treated for a leg wound.
