FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Police say a parolee clearly targeted co-workers at a chicken processing plant in Fresno, killing two people and wounding two others before killing himself.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says Lawrence Jones moved methodically between his first three victims and had the opportunity to shoot other co-workers Tuesday but chose not to.
Police say Jones shot 32-year-old Fatima Lopez in the back as she tried to flee then put the gun to the head of Estevan Catano and pulled the trigger but was out of bullets. Lopez was released from a hospital after treatment.
Thirty-two-year-old Salvador Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene and 34-year-old Manuel Verdin died later at a hospital.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ornulfo Conrriguez was hospitalized in serious condition.
Dyer says Jones reloaded and shot himself after leaving the Valley Protein plant.
