Passenger Shot During Road Rage Incident

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Northern California say that a woman has been shot and injured during a road-rage incident.

California Highway Patrol Officer Tim Moore says the shooting took place Wednesday along Interstate 880 near Marina Boulevard in San Leandro.

The Oakland Tribune reports a female passenger in a black Honda Accord called 911 and told a dispatcher that someone in a white pick-up truck fired a single shot into the car.

The passenger was hit once in the right leg.

Moore says the Honda fled the scene and stopped in a hardware store parking lot near Interstate 80 in Richmond.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries The driver of the Honda was not hit by the gunfire.

Moore says a motive for the shooting is not immediately known.
