KYBURZ, CA – Traffic is once again moving freely without any restrictions on Highway 50 near the town of Kyburz, California, with the fire that led to the restrictions fully contained.
The fire started Monday in a rural section of the highway between White Hall and Kyburz. The CHP is reporting the fire started with sparks when a vehicle blew a tire. Forest Service officials say the fire burned about 600 acres.
There were no evacuations, and California forestry officials say a couple of outbuildings burned. No homes in the area were threatened.
