Dad Charged in Drug-Laced Baby Bottle Death

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia prosecutors say a man put heroin and methadone in his infant son's bottle to quiet him but instead killed the boy two days before his first birthday.

Orlando Rosado will face a third-degree murder trial after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

The 45-year-old Rosado tells police he accidentally put drugs in the bottle during a 3 a.m. feeding in May.

But prosecutor Lorraine Donnelly says she'll argue the drug cocktail was intentional, even if baby Christopher's death wasn't.

Defense lawyer Bruce Wolf calls the case an active investigation.

Rosado remains in prison after failing to have his $1 million bail lowered. No trial date has been set.

Donnelly says the baby was found unresponsive at about 7 a.m., found face-down in vomit in his crib.
