Outgoing LA Mayor Considering Run for Governor

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says he'll join a think tank when his job ends this summer - and he'd also consider running for California governor someday.

Villaraigosa told KTTV-TV's "Good Day LA" Wednesday that he'll affiliate with a think tank - a policy research and advocacy group - to help California regain its lost luster. He didn't specify a group.

Villaraigosa also says he'd like to run for governor but says there's no vacancy, last time he looked.

The former state Assembly speaker was elected in 2005, becoming LA's first Hispanic mayor in more than a century. He was re-elected in 2009. His term ends on June 30.

Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel want to replace him. Neither won a majority in Tuesday's election and will face a runoff.
