OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Oakland Mayor Jean Quan remains adamant that she was not on her mobile phone during a two-vehicle crash, though she says she isn't sure whether she ran a red light.
Quan made the comments outside City Hall on Monday, a day after the crash in West Oakland. Quan says that she was driving to a church when her city-owned Lexus SUV was struck by another car.
Several witnesses, including the other driver, Lakisha Renee Lovely, say Quan was talking on the phone. The mayor says she has submitted her phone records to police to show that she wasn't.
Quan is facing scrutiny after a local television station recently aired two photos of her using her phone while driving.
The mayor was also cited recently for running a red light.
