SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - People throughout Northern California are honoring military veterans with a series of ceremonies and other events Sunday.
In San Francisco's annual Veterans Day parade, hundreds of veterans are expected to take part in the march along the city's Market Street on Sunday.
Organizers say more than 40 local veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan were expected to march in the parade, as well of hundreds more who served in previous conflicts.
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and state Sen. Mark Leno, who represents San Francisco, are also taking part in the parade.
Parades were also being held in other cities, including San Jose and Sacramento. In the San Jose parade, U.S. Coast Guard Vice Admiral Paul Zukunft was the grand marshal.
