SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Northern California man who called 911 threatening to blow up his house caused an explosion that left him hospitalized with burn injuries.
The El Dorado Sheriff's department says deputies heard an explosion Saturday when they arrived at the man's house in the Pollock Pines community.
Authorities say the house became engulfed in flames, prompting an evacuation of nearby residences as fire crews beat back the blaze.
Investigators told KCRA-TV the explosion occurred after the man turned on gas.
The man, who was found inside the home, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
His name and condition were not immediately released.
