SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A man has been convicted of killing a 90-year-old woman during a 2005 robbery in San Bernardino.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports Michael Mitchell Jr. will be sentenced in May after his murder conviction Friday.
Mitchell and two others were arrested in 2013, years after the killing of Josephine Kelley.
Authorities say Mitchell and Renee Smith entered Kelley's house, bound her, assaulted her, and stole jewelry, electronics and other property. The coroner ruled Kelley died by smothering.
Jury deliberations were scheduled to continue next week for Smith, who is charged with murder.
The third defendant, Sherry Ann Beck, pleaded guilty last year to voluntary manslaughter, causing great bodily injury to an elderly person, robbery and grand theft.
