SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A 24-year-old California man has been charged with murder for the stabbing death of a former girlfriend in an alley.
Orange County prosecutors said Monday that Luis Antonio Garcia Morales is facing life in prison without possibility of parole if he's convicted of killing 21-year-old Maria Isabel Cerrillo of Tustin.
Morales is charged with special circumstance murder by lying in wait with a sentencing enhancement for using a deadly weapon. He's in jail without bail.
Arraignment is scheduled on Monday.
Prosecutors say Morales arranged to meet Cerrillo in a Santa Ana alley on Nov. 13. Police said at the time that Morales was trying to rekindle their relationship.
The woman was stabbed repeatedly and her body was found the following day.
