SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her 4-year-old daughter, who was found clinging to life in the trunk of a parked car in a quiet Sacramento neighborhood.
The Sacramento Bee reports that police arrested 29-year-old Aquelin Talamantes of Davis, Calif. on suspicion of murder on Thursday.
The girl was found in the trunk by officers conducting a welfare check requested by concerned family members. Police suspect she was injured at her home in Davis and then put in the trunk by her mom and brought to Sacramento.
The girl, identified as Tatianna Garcia, died at a hospital. The coroner has not released a cause of death.
Talamantes is being held without bail at the Yolo County Main Jail. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
