SAN DIEGO (AP) - A mechanic has died after he was struck by a car while trying to repair a broken-down school bus on a rainy San Diego freeway.
City News Service says no students were in the San Diego school bus when a car veered off the road and rear-ended it Thursday morning on Interstate 805.
The California Highway Patrol says the mechanic, a 32-year-old Ramona man, was wedged into the engine compartment and died at a hospital. His name hasn't been released.
The 41-year-old motorist was treated for injuries at a hospital. Authorities say she may have been driving too fast for the wet conditions.
