Some 1,000 gamecocks have been found during a Southern California cockfighting bust.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin says cockfighting paraphernalia, including spurs, were also found.

Ontario police and animal welfare officers raided the site on Sunday and arrested 57-year-old Antonio Cacayorin Mendoza of Chino for misdemeanor cockfighting and 55-year-old Dominador Oposcolo Soliven of Hemet for misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Three other men were cited as spectators at an illegal game.

Inland Valley Humane Society investigator Sylvia Lemus says it's one of the biggest busts ever in the region east of Los Angeles.
