CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) - A wildfire that broke out last weekend at the Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton has been contained.
A base statement says the blaze was fully contained as of 6 p.m. Wednesday but firefighters will continue mop-up operations and watch for flare-ups.
The fire erupted Saturday and burned 2,236 acres, or nearly 3½ square miles.
The Marine Corps says the fire did not erupt in an artillery impact area and there was no training scheduled nearby. The cause remains under investigation.
