OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Police say a man has been shot and killed apparently by the caretaker of an indoor marijuana grow during an early morning robbery attempt in Oakland's Chinatown.
Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Monday after three men tried to barge into a duplex when the caretaker killed one of the suspects after they fatally shot his dog.
Police say investigators have found the gun apparently used in the shooting and another weapon that apparently belonged to one of the robbers.
Police say two other suspects remain at large as they believe the Marijuana grow may be legal as the caretaker was taken into custody for questioning.
The names of the caretaker and the suspect have not been released. The shooting also took place about two blocks from the Oakland police's downtown headquarters.
