LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man has been convicted of murder in the shooting deaths of his two stepdaughters during a birthday party.
City News Service reports a jury found Robert Lee Phillips guilty Monday of first-degree murder and second-degree murder.
The family was celebrating the younger woman's 30th birthday in 2006 when Phillips was escorted outside after he got into an argument about the music.
Prosecutors say Phillips fired a shot into the ground outside the house and then went into the yard where he shot his older stepdaughter. The younger woman was shot three times in the house.
Phillips' attorney says his client had no motive.
