LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - A man wanted on a murder warrant has been extradited to Los Angeles County to face charges in a 2008 sword slaying.
Sheriff's deputies said Jesus Canales was booked early Saturday at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
Canales, a native of El Salvador, is accused of killing Lucy Preciado with a sword at her Lancaster apartment in 2008 in front of her children. Authorities said Canales fled after the attack.
He was tracked down by Mexican authorities earlier this week in the town of Jalisco and was turned over to U.S. marshals.
Canales will be arraigned at the Antelope Valley Superior Court on Monday.
