LOS ANGELES (AP) - A parolee and alleged gang member who was acquitted two weeks ago in an attempted murder and carjacking case has been charged with attempting to murder a Fullerton police officer by shooting at him multiple times during a traffic stop.

Orange County prosecutors say 29-year-old Marcos Allen Bush was also charged Tuesday with shooting from a vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic firearm on a peace officer, street terrorism and other felony counts.

If convicted with sentencing enhancements, Bush faces 60-years-to-life in prison.

Prosecutors say Bush was pulled over Sunday and as the officer looked into his car, Bush shot him point-blank in the chest. The officer's vest stopped the bullet. They say Bush also shot the officer twice in the arm and once in the leg before speeding away.
