LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man has been arrested after police say he brought a homemade pipe bomb to a Los Angeles gun buyback.
KCBS-TV says the man brought the bomb to a dropoff location over the weekend.
Police Chief Charlie Beck says the man told police officers there that he'd spoken to God, who no longer wanted him to use the bomb to blow up the Hollywood sign.
Although people can turn in guns with no questions asked, Beck says that doesn't apply to pipe bombs, which are illegal to make and possess. The man was arrested. His name hasn't been released.
Police safely detonated the device.
