GRASS VALLEY, CA - A Nevada County, California, man is accused of trying to poison his girlfriend with Visine.
27-year-old Shayne Carpenter was arrested Thursday and booked on poisoning and domestic violence charges.
Police say he put eye drops in his girlfriend's drink during an argument. She later got sick from the drink.
Lt. Steve Tripp told KXTV News 10 that the girlfriend became suspicious after seeing text messages on Carpenter's phone.
"He was making texts to his buddies that if 'She's going to be talking crap then she's going to be crapping,'" Tripp said.
Investigators say Carpenter admitted over the phone that he did put the eye drops in her drink.
