SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A job applicant is appealing her pregnancy discrimination case against Lucasfilm to the California Supreme Court after a lower court threw out the verdict in her favor because of jury instruction errors.
The Marin Independent Journal reports that attorneys for Julie Gilman Veronese filed the appeal Friday.
A Marin County jury awarded $114,000 to Veronese, and a judge awarded $1.2 million in lawyer fees.
Veronese claimed filmmaker George Lucas' firm wrongly withdrew a job offer after learning she was pregnant.
However, a state appeals court reversed the verdict, saying the trial judge made numerous errors in instructions read to the jury.
Lucasfilm said it is confident the Supreme Court will uphold the appeals court's decision. The court has 60 days to decide whether or not to review the case.
