LODI, Calif. (AP) - Hundreds turned out for a candlelight vigil in Northern California Wednesday night to honor five family members killed in a crash.

A pregnant woman and three children who attended Lodi schools were among those killed in the five-vehicle crash at an intersection on Tuesday night.

Police said one of the family members, a 9-year-old, was in critical condition. Five other people were also hospitalized.

Lodi Mayor Alan Nakanishi called the crash a black day for the city.

Lodi police are investigating how the crash occurred. Witnesses described seeing one of the vehicles involved speeding beforehand.

Lt. Sierra Bruscia said police are planning to hold a news conference on Monday to release additional details.
