LOS ANGELES (AP) - Four people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer following a shooting that wounded a sheriff's deputy in south Los Angeles.
LA County Sheriff's Lt. Gregory Nelson says the four were taken into custody during an intense overnight search involving more than 100 deputies and other law enforcement personnel.
Nelson says the investigation is ongoing and investigators want to talk to more people in connection with the shooting.
At least two gunmen in a group of suspected gang members opened fire as the patrolling deputies approached them Friday night in the Florence area.
The wounded deputy is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at a hospital. No other details of his injury or condition were released, and his name is being withheld.
