SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -- South Lake Tahoe Police Department officials say they arrested a man for breaking into a bicycle shop... and it was an injury that helped them do it.

The burglary happened after 9pm on St. Patrick's Day at South Shore Bikes on Emerald Bay Road. When officers got there, they saw the burglar had broken in through a vent in the roof and left through a window.

Officers found blood at the scene, suggesting the burglar was injured during the process.

Later that night, at about 1am, officers went to Barton Hospital where they found a man, 34-year-old Lee Sparks from South Lake Tahoe, who had fresh cuts on his arms. Police say he admitted to taking a bicycle from the South Shore Bikes.

Officers arrested Sparks and booked him into the El Dorado County Jail on burglary charges.
